BLS (Basic Life Support ) can save lives.  You could save a loved one, a work colleague, or a stranger in the street.

But when you are working with human subjects, you have an added responsibility to be able to render assistance to these subjects in the event of a medical emergency.  You should be able to initiate and continue care until help arrives.
